Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Mohammed Al-Momany is the visionary founder of the Red Sea Dive Center in Aqaba, Jordan’s first PADI-certified dive center. A retired Lieutenant Colonel from the Royal Jordanian Naval Force, Mohammed has over 40 years of diving experience and is a pioneer in the field of underwater exploration in Jordan.

His passion for diving extends beyond sport; Mohammed is also an accomplished underwater photographer and videographer, having won multiple prestigious awards in international competitions. Notably, he earned a gold medal in the Standard Lens category and a silver medal in the Close-Up category at the 1991 Underwater Photography Competition in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, where 18 countries participated. In 1994, he won two gold medals at the “Coralis” Underwater Photography Competition in Tabarka, Tunisia, which brought Jordan the coveted competition cup.

Mohammed’s career is marked by his dedication to both professional and recreational diving. He is a CMAS Three-Star Instructor and a PADI Master Instructor, with specialized expertise in underwater photography. His efforts have not only advanced the art of underwater photography but have also helped raise awareness about the beauty and fragility of marine life in the Red Sea.

Today, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Mohammed Al-Momany splits his time between managing the Red Sea Dive Center alongside his two sons, Abdullah and Omar. Together, the family ensures the continuation of their father’s legacy, offering top-quality diving instruction and unforgettable underwater experiences to divers from around the world.

Mohammed is currently working on a book about the unique marine life found in the Red Sea’s territorial waters off Aqaba. His goal is to educate both Jordanians and tourists about the underwater treasures that lie beneath the surface and to inspire efforts to protect these precious ecosystems for future generations.
